Subject: No Condition is Permanent!
Ivory,
While at your home the other night, I was looking at your collection
of books. As you know, I was off into your cook books at first but
when I finished, I started surfing your bookshelves again. I honestly
thought to myself, "Maybe there's a book that will speak to
the need I have inside me at this time."
As my eyes traveled along the seams of the books over your fireplace,
one title in particular caught my eye and jumped right out at me.
No Condition is Permanent! I remember thinking to myself, "Amen
to that!" as I reached up and plucked if off the shelf. The
book spoke to my heart because I happen to be at what I consider
a dark time in my life. I know it's temporary but, nonetheless,
that's where I am right now.
The title alone gave me hope because I really needed to hear that.
Ironically, hope is one of the things Rene talks about in the very
first chapter. As I read what he was saying about hope, standing
there in front of your fireplace, it touched me profoundly and stirred
up something inside of me that I now realize I've been trying to
suppress. I knew I had to read this book.
To show you how everything is in Divine Order, before I could even
ask you if I could borrow your book (I had to have it that night),
you graciously offered it to me.
Bottom line, this book is a must read for anyone who is experiencing
a dark night in the soul. It's a good book under any circumstances,
but it especially speaks to people who are feeling like they've
hit the bottom. And, believe me, everyone has been there or will
be there at some time in their lives.
Rene said about himself, "I discovered that my calling in
life is to provide strategies for those who are stuck at the bottom
so that they can move to the top." Well, he certainly does
this in his book! I really do feel "a shift in the force"
as a result of reading only the first eight chapters of his book.
I can feel my courage and determination growing and that I must
not give up on my dreams.
What Rene says about inspiration vs. motivation was astonishing
to me because I have always believed that to be motivated is a temporary
state of being, while inspiration is something that is permanent.
Wow! His book is just chock-full of wonderful statements that make
your heart sing.
"Everyone should
have a dream about what he or she eventually wants to do in life
. . . . Nothing significant has ever happened without solid strategies.
Living is like being in a war. If you don't have calculated plans
for your battles, you will lose every single one of them (awesome!)
. . . . . The first requirement of getting what you want in life
is to know precisely what it is that you want . . . . . What are
you passionate about?
What you were born to
do is right there in front of your face, but you are too close to
see it . . . . . One can never experience enduring success if money
is the WHY. Simply put, success comes when it is other-oriented
rather than self-oriented . . . . . You and I have no control over
external situations in life, but we have a choice as to how we interpret
them -- we can always rely on HOPE.”
And this statement really did bring tears to my eyes: "It doesn't
matter what you are facing today in your life: your condition is
not permanent! It may appear to be so, but your help is coming.
Are you trying to accomplish something that is taking a long time
and the results are not coming in? That's called life. Nothing is
easy. The old adage says if it's worth having, it's worth fighting
for. Stay in the race a little longer."
This book has truly been a blessing to me at this time in my life
and the fact that it came to me was no accident. God knew what I
needed and delivered it to me in the form of this book. Rene's story
has been a true inspiration for me and I know that it will be an
inspiration for others that read it too. I read some excerpts from
his book to a friend of mine in Florida and she was saying Amen!
all over the place. She wants the book and I'm going to get it and
send it to her.
I hope Rene never has any doubt in his mind that he is fulfilling
his calling in life, and his book is one of his powerful pathways
to doing just that. Having the courage to tell the story of his
life and then to interweave it with strategies that will really
help people to have hope and get unstuck, has resulted in the creation
of a truly powerful tool. Over many years, I have read countless
self-help books and I can truly say that No Condition is Permanent!
can stand up there with the best of them.
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow. I know you can see I'm really
"gicked up" but that's a good thing!
Sincerely,
Phyllis
